Terms of Service

1. Who we are
Haske is an online Islamic school offering live one-to-one classes in Quran, Hadith, and Arabic to the Nigerian Muslim community, at haskehq.com. Haske is operated by Flexigrid Solutions Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”, or “Haske”), a company registered in Nigeria with registration number RC 8642152, at Plot 1366, Edmund Madani Crescent, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Flexigrid Solutions Ltd. Where our agreements name the platform party as “Haske (Flexigrid Solutions Ltd)”, that is the same company.
2. About these Terms
These Terms apply to everyone who uses Haske — guardians and their children, adult learners, teachers, publishers, reviewers, and anyone reading our publications. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Haske.
Some people also hold a separate signed agreement with us. Teachers, publishers and reviewers each sign their own agreement covering their engagement — what they do, how they are paid, who owns what, and how either side ends it. Where that signed agreement and these Terms cover the same subject and say different things, the signed agreement prevails for that subject. These Terms still apply to everything it does not cover, such as how you use the site.
Two other documents form part of your agreement with us:
- our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data, including children’s data, under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023; and
- the payment terms shown at checkout, which you accept each time you buy a plan of classes. Section 7 summarises them.
3. Who can use Haske
You must be 18 or older to hold a Haske account. We treat everyone under 18 as a child.
If you tell us during registration that you are under 18, we will not create an account for you. We do not ask a child to confirm anything or to tick a box instead: a child cannot be the account holder, so there is nothing for them to agree to. Instead we ask you to have a parent or guardian create the account and add you as a learner, which is described in Section 5.
Registration for family accounts is sometimes closed — for example while we are onboarding teachers ahead of opening to families. When it is closed, we say so on the registration form.
You may not use Haske if we have previously closed or suspended your account, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
4. Your account
When you register you agree to:
- give accurate information about yourself, and keep it up to date;
- keep your password confidential, and not let anyone else sign in as you;
- tell us promptly if you think someone else has gained access to your account; and
- take responsibility for what is done through your account.
One account belongs to one person. Teachers, publishers and reviewers must not share an account or let someone else deliver classes or submit work in their name.
5. Guardians and learners
Haske is built so that a child is never the account holder. This is the most important structural rule on the platform, and it shapes everything else in this section.
- The guardian holds the account. A parent or guardian registers, and is the person we contract with, bill, and communicate with. You are the person these Terms bind.
- A child is a “learner” record under your account, not a separate login. You add each child, and you manage their classes. A learner has no password and cannot sign in independently.
- We ask for your consent before we process a child’s personal data, and we record that consent together with the version of the Privacy Policy you consented to, the date and time, and how it was given. We never assume it or pre-tick it.
- You remain responsible for your child’s use of Haske — for the bookings you make, for the payments on the account, and for your child’s conduct in class under Section 10.
An adult may also learn on their own account, in which case they are both the account holder and the learner.
How we match learners with teachers
We ask for each learner’s gender, and we use it to match them with a suitable teacher: a boy is shown, and taught by, only male teachers. A girl is not restricted in this way. The rule is deliberately one-sided. A learner’s gender is never shown to other families and is never published.
We also need each learner’s date of birth before their first class can be booked, because a learner’s age affects how we teach them and how we handle their data.
6. Classes and how they work
Classes are live, one-to-one, and delivered in your browser through our video service.
- Classes are not recorded. Neither we nor your teacher record the audio or video of a class, and the platform provides no way to do so. You must not record a class either — see Section 10.
- A trial class is free and lasts about 30 minutes. It exists so you and the teacher can decide whether to continue. Either side may decline to go further, and neither is charged.
- Classes are then bought in 4-week plans. You choose a teacher, the courses, and a weekly day and time, and you pay for one 4-week plan at a time.
- A teacher’s availability is theirs to set. If a teacher’s availability changes, or the time you used to have is taken, we will ask you to choose another before your next plan starts.
Rescheduling, and classes that do not happen
- Either you or your teacher may reschedule a single class with at least 24 hours’ notice.
- A class cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may count as a class delivered.
- If your teacher does not attend, you do not lose that class. We schedule a free replacement where your plan is still running and the teacher is available. Where we cannot, we credit the value of that class to your account and apply it automatically against your next plan, with any teacher.
- Pausing a plan does not reduce the number of classes you have paid for — your remaining classes move later.
If a teacher stops working with Haske part-way through your plan, we cancel their remaining scheduled classes and credit you for every class you had paid for and not yet taken, automatically. You do not have to ask.
7. Fees and payment
Prices are shown in Nigerian Naira before you pay, and payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not see or store your card details.
The full payment terms are shown to you at checkout and you accept them each time you buy a plan. In summary:
- Nothing renews automatically. No card is stored and nothing is charged on a schedule. To continue after a plan ends, you choose to pay for another.
- You can stop at any time by simply not renewing. Classes you have already paid for still run to the end of the current plan.
- Payments are not refundable. We do not return money for a plan once it has started, and there is no money-back period. If you stop part-way through a plan, the classes you have not taken are not returned or refunded.
- A class your teacher misses is made good, not refunded — as a free replacement class or as credit against your next plan, as described in Section 6.
Where you accepted an earlier version of our payment terms that promised something different, that version governs your purchase, not this summary.
Teachers are paid by us, at the rate for their tier. Families pay Haske, never the teacher directly.
8. Publications
Haske also publishes written and recorded material from Islamic scholars and publishers. Some is free; some is paid.
- Buying a publication gives you permission to read or listen to it for your own learning, and for your household’s. It does not transfer ownership.
- You must not copy, resell, republish or redistribute a publication, or share your account so that others can read it.
- If a publisher stops working with Haske, you keep access to what you have already bought.
- A publication may be withdrawn if it turns out to breach someone’s rights or our content standards. Where you have paid for it, we will tell you and deal with you fairly.
9. Teachers, publishers and reviewers
If you apply to teach or publish with Haske, your application is reviewed before you are approved, and you sign an agreement with us before you begin. That agreement governs your engagement — your obligations, how and when you are paid, what you own, and how either side ends it. Section 2 explains how it interacts with these Terms.
Two rules are worth stating here because they protect families as much as us:
- Teachers must not charge families outside the platform, or move a family off Haske to avoid our fees. Bookings, payments and records exist so a family has somewhere to go if something goes wrong.
- Teachers must keep what they learn about a family confidential. A teacher is not given a guardian’s email address, phone number or payment details, and must not seek them out or pass on anything a learner tells them, except where a child’s safety requires it.
Being approved does not entitle you to a minimum number of classes, students or sales.
10. Acceptable use
Haske teaches children. That shapes what we expect of everyone using it. You agree that you and anyone on your account will not:
- behave abusively in a class or a message — harassing, threatening, demeaning or discriminating against a learner, a teacher, or our staff;
- record, photograph, stream or redistribute a class, or any part of one. Classes carry a child’s live image and voice, and this rule is how that stays private;
- bring anyone into a class who is not the learner and their teacher, except a guardian supervising their own child;
- impersonate anyone, or register on behalf of someone else without their authority;
- share your login, or use someone else’s;
- attempt to reach data, accounts or parts of the platform that are not yours, or probe, scan or interfere with how the platform works;
- scrape, copy or harvest the platform’s content, teacher profiles or publications, whether by hand or automatically;
- circumvent the platform — taking a booking, a payment or a class off Haske to avoid our fees, our records or our safeguarding;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything promoting hatred, violence or discrimination, or anything sexually explicit or otherwise inappropriate on a platform used by children;
- upload material you do not have the right to use, or that infringes someone’s copyright or trademark; or
- use Haske for anything unlawful, or to break any rule that applies to you.
If a child is at risk, tell us immediately using the contact details in Section 17. We would rather hear a concern that turns out to be nothing than not hear one at all.
11. Content and intellectual property
We own the platform. The Haske name and logo, the site, its design, and the software behind it belong to us or to our licensors. Nothing in these Terms gives you the right to use them, beyond using Haske as it is meant to be used.
Teachers keep their own teaching methods and materials. Where a teacher gives us their profile, biography or introduction video, they allow us to display it so families can find them.
Publishers keep the copyright in what they publish. They allow us to host it and make it available to people on Haske; they do not give it to us.
What you write stays yours. Where you post a review, feedback or a message, you allow us to display and store it so the platform can work — showing your review on a teacher’s profile, for example. You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
If you believe something on Haske infringes your rights, write to us using the details in Section 17 and tell us what and where it is. We will look into it and remove anything that should not be there.
12. Suspension, and ending your account
You may stop using Haske at any time. For a plan of classes, you stop simply by not renewing; classes you have paid for still run. To close your account altogether, see Section 13.
When we may suspend or close an account
We may suspend or close an account where:
- these Terms have been breached, in particular the acceptable-use rules in Section 10;
- there is a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child — we act first and ask questions afterwards, and we make no apology for that;
- we reasonably suspect fraud, an unauthorised payment, or misuse of the platform;
- someone is trying to take classes or payments off the platform; or
- we are required to by law.
Where a concern is serious — a child’s safety, or fraud — we may suspend an account immediately and without notice. Otherwise we will give you notice where it is reasonable to do so. A suspended account cannot sign in.
If you think we have got it wrong, tell us and we will look at it again. We will not always be able to explain a decision in full, particularly where it concerns someone else or an ongoing safeguarding matter.
What happens to classes and money
- Where we end a teacher’s engagement part-way through your plan, your undelivered classes are cancelled and credited to you automatically, as described in Section 6. The teacher is still paid for the classes they did deliver.
- Where you are suspended for breaching these Terms, classes you have not taken are not refunded, in line with Section 7.
- Money already owed to a teacher or publisher for work delivered remains owed, and is paid in the normal course.
13. Your data, and closing your account
How we collect, use and protect personal data — including children’s data — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us. It explains your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, including the right to see your data, correct it, object to how it is used, withdraw consent, and ask for it to be deleted. A guardian may exercise those rights for their child.
You can request deletion of your account from within the app. That sends a request to our administrators — your account is not deleted immediately. An administrator reviews and actions it, and the app tells you the period we aim to do that within.
Some records cannot be fully erased, and we would rather say so plainly than surprise you:
- financial and transaction records are kept as Nigerian tax and financial law requires — with your identifying details removed, so the records reconcile without naming you;
- signed agreements and parental-consent records are kept as evidence, for as long as needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim; and
- publications other people have already bought remain available to those buyers.
If you are a guardian, deleting your account also deletes your learners’ personal details and their consent records. We cannot action a deletion while money is still moving to or from your account — a payout in flight has to settle first.
14. What we promise, and what we do not
We take real care over who teaches on Haske. Every teacher applies, is reviewed by two people, has their identity verified against a government document, and signs an agreement with us before they teach a single class.
What we do not promise is a particular result. Learning to read Quran, or to understand Arabic, depends on the learner as much as the teacher. We do not promise that a learner will reach any particular standard, in any particular time, or pass any assessment.
Nor can we promise the platform will never be unavailable. Software has faults, networks fail, and a class may be disrupted by a problem at either end. Where a class is lost because of a fault on our side, we treat it as a class not delivered and make it good under Section 6 — that is the practical remedy, and it is a real one.
No organisation can promise a system will never be compromised, and we do not make that promise. What we commit to is what happens next, and our Privacy Policy sets it out: we investigate, we contain it, we notify the regulator within the time the law allows, and where there is a real risk to you we tell you directly — and if the data concerns a child, we tell their guardian.
Limits on our liability
Where we are liable to you, our total liability for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity or data.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and anything else Nigerian law does not allow us to exclude. It also does not affect what we have separately promised a teacher, publisher or reviewer in their signed agreement — including our commitment to handle support and to resolve disputes.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date and the version shown at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects your rights or what you owe us, we will take reasonable steps to tell you rather than relying on you noticing.
Continuing to use Haske after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you should stop using Haske and may close your account under Section 13.
A change to these Terms does not change a payment you have already made — the payment terms you accepted at the time govern that purchase — and does not change a signed agreement, which is amended only in writing between us and the person who signed it.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Please come to us first. Most problems — a class that did not happen, a payment that looks wrong, a teacher who is not right for your child — are resolved quickly by telling us. Write to us using the details in Section 17 and we will work through it with you.
Where something cannot be resolved that way, we will try to settle it through mediation under Nigerian law before either of us goes to court. Nothing here stops you from exercising a right you have under Nigerian law, or from complaining to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission about how your personal data has been handled.
